Instructions

Catherine’s method involves just rubbing your teeth with strawberries, while Tyra mashes up a few strawberries and rubs the mixture all over her teeth.

To try it yourself:

1. Crush a few strawberries into a pulp.

2. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth and leave for 3-5 minutes.

3. Rinse and brush after with toothpaste, and floss out any lurking strawberry seeds.

Efficacy

Strawberries aren’t as effective as bicarb soda or other whitening ingredients, but they are super cheap and tasty, you’d be crazy not to try it.

Beware, the acid in strawberries can damage the enamel of your teeth if you are berry-generous in this teeth whitening treatment.

Instructions

Use this method once or twice a week for best results.

1. Just mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough water to make a paste.

2. Apply the paste to your teeth and leave the paste on for up to three minutes.

3. After three minutes, use your tooth brush to brush your teeth and rinse.

QUICK HINT: If you’re in a rush, just wet your tooth brush and dip the bristle in the baking soda and brush your teeth for two minutes.

Efficacy

You should notice after a few weeks a subtle whitening of the teeth. However, baking soda is mildly abrasive, so it’s not recommended for gentle gums.

Instructions

1. Rub the apple cider vinegar straight onto your teeth to remove stains.

2. Rinse with water.

The above process is great for stubborn stains, but can be abrasive on the enamel. Instead, try diluting a teaspoon of vinegar with a cub of water and use as a mouth wash.

Efficacy

The trick with using apple cider vinegar as a teeth whitener is consistency. You won't see results after just one go. You'll need to consistently use it everyday for at least a month. Like all good things, it takes time!

Instructions

For best results, oil pulling should be done after you've brushed your teeth.

1. Make sure the coconut oil is runny and hasn't solidified, and simply place a teaspoon full in your mouth.

2. Swish the oil around your mouth and between your teeth for 5 -15 minutes.

3. Spit the oil out and rinse.

HINT: If you are not a fan of coconut oil, you can also try sesame oil.

Efficacy

Oil pulling is an ancient ayurvedic therapy for maintaining oral hygiene and whitening teeth. It has been used for thousands of years and is backed by modern medical studies proving it to be an effective method at reducing plaque formation and plaque induced gingivitis.
